A Spanish matador has been blinded in his left eye and paralysed down that side of his face after he was horrifically gored during a bullfight.
The bull's horn pierced Juan Jose Padilla's jaw and emerged through his left eye socket during the grizzly incident at the northeastern city of Zaragoza's Fiestas Del Pilar event yesterday.
With blood gushing from his head, he was helped out of the ring screaming 'I can't see, I can't see'.

A lone gunman shot dead six people with an automatic weapon as he walked calmly through a Dutch shopping mall yesterday, and threatened to blow up three other shopping malls before eventually killing himself.
Panicked shoppers ran for cover or hid in shops after the gunman opened fire at random at the mall in the small town of Alphen aan den Rijn, some 46km south of Amsterdam.
Dressed in camouflage trousers and a bomber jacket, the gunman began shooting in a parking lot before moving inside the mall. Ten people were wounded, some seriously.
“I saw a woman I know walking at the other side,” Marjolein Nieuwland told the ANP news agency. “She wanted to enter a shop when a tall young man approached and shot her in cold blood.
“He walked calmly and shot through the windows of the shop where I was hiding.
“I also saw a woman in her motorised wheelchair shot in the head, and at the Albert Heijn (grocery store) there was a young man. Also dead. Later I heard that was the shooter,” she said.
Officials named the gunman as Tristan van der Vlis, 24, a local man who lived in the town with his father.
Police said gunshots were still ringing out when they arrived at the scene on receiving an emergency call shortly after midday.

Myanmar bars foreign monitors, reporters from poll
Myanmar, Oct 18 — International poll monitors and foreign journalists will be barred from Myanmar’s first election in 20 years, its military rulers said on Monday, deepening concern that next month’s poll will be a sham.
The United States, Britain and Myanmar’s Southeast Asian neighbours had urged the junta to allow independent election monitors at the Nov. 7 election, which critics say will cement the military’s grip on power under the guise of civilian rule.

Nobel euphoria fails to mask tough reality in China
The euphoria overseas and in some domestic circles at dissident Liu Xiaobo’s winning of the Nobel Peace Prize has failed to mask deeper unease that his victory will likely bring little change in Communist Party-ruled China.
Liu, 54, has been a thorn in the government’s side since 1989 when he joined student protesters on a hunger strike days before the army crushed the Tiananmen Square pro-democracy movement and has been in and out of jail ever since.

Male escort who visited Saudi prince's hotel room stripped to give him a massage and was paid in £50 notes, court told
A male escort told the Saudi Prince Old Bailey murder trial today that he stripped to give the prince a massage but could not be sure there was a 'sexual element' to it.
Student Pablo Silva said he had visited the hotel room of Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud two weeks before he allegedly murdered Bandar Abdulaziz, 32, during a ferocious attack with a 'sexual element' on February 15.
The 34-year-old denies murder and a second count of grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to an alleged assault on Mr Abdulaziz in a lift on January 22.
His lawyer, John Kelsey-Fry QC, today denied the suggestion that the two men were in a gay relationship.
Prosecutors claim two male escorts had visited the prince at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, central London.

Terror on campus: Students dive for cover as gunman carrying AK47 opens fire in library of University of Texas
A man wearing a ski mask opened fire with an AK-47 inside a University of Texas library yesterday morning, then fatally shot himself, police said.
Colton Tooley, a 19-year-old maths sophomore wearing a ski mask and a dark suit, began shooting near a fountain in front of the UT Tower.
The site is infamous for being the site of one of America's deadliest shooting rampages more than four decades ago, when a gunman ascended the clock tower and fired down on dozens of people.
He then turned the gun on himself. No one else was killed or injured - despite there being many people around.
The nearly 50,000-student campus was put on lockdown while officers with bomb-sniffing dogs carried out a building-by-building manhunt for a possible second suspect.

Video shows militants stoning woman in Pakistan
Turbaned men in Pakistan gather around a woman with a black hood over her head, pick up large rocks and repeatedly throw them at her until she lies motionless, stretched along the ground.
The stoning in the northwest of the country was apparently carried out by Pakistani Taliban militants, incensed because she was seen out with a man. It was shown in a video obtained by a Dubai television station.
The footage is a stark reminder that despite a series of military offensives the military said had weakened insurgents, militants still control areas of northwest Pakistan and impose their harsh version of Islam at will.
