At least 7 dead in Siberia plane crash

A Russian passenger plane crashed as it came into land near a Siberian oil town yesterday, killing at least seven of the 15 people on board, an Emergencies Ministry spokeswoman said.
“The plane was flying from Krasnoyarsk to Igarka and crashed 700 metres from the runway as it came in to land ... according to provisional information seven people died at the scene,” ministry spokeswoman Irina Andriyanova told the Rossiya-24 television news channel.
She said four of the 15 people on board the AN-24 plane were crew members.
An Emergencies Ministry spokeswoman told Reuters that 15 people had died, but later said the death toll was unclear.
The Arctic town of Igarka in the Krasnoyarsk region is 140km from the Vankor oil field operated by oil major Rosneft. It is around 3,000km northeast of Moscow.
The AN-24 is produced by Ukraine-based planemaker Antonov.
