Putin power: The Russian Prime Minister in action in the dojo (left), and catching some sun while fishing
Let's get physical: Putin demonstrates his trademark judo move, the swwwping hip throw, while visiting a dojo in St Petersburg
If there were any rumours that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is anything less than a fully-fledged man's man, even after recently celebrating his 57th birthday, these photos of the athletic leader will scotch them for good.
The former President, who was appointed Prime Minister by his successor Dmitry Medvedev in 2008, is shown in these new photos holding his own at a St Petersburg judo school as he takes on a succession of opponents.
He is shown using his sweeping hip throw, a move for which he is feared on the judo mats.
And that isn't a borrowed black belt around his waist - he is a master of the martial art, having taken it up 43 years ago, aged 14.
He has won competitions in his home city and is even the president of the St Petersburg dojo where he first learnt his skills.
He even released his own judo DVD last year, called 'Learn judo with Vladimir'.
The latest photographic display of Putin's masculinity follows images of him fishing shirtless, shooting a tiger with a tranquiliser dart, horseriding, racing a truck, driving a train, piloting a fighter jet and a commanding a submarine.
Each set of photos is met with rapture by his adoring countrymen and women, with all media from women's magazines to gay chat websites gushing over his muscled physique.
Putin is a former KGB official, who was based in East Germany during the last years of the Cold War. He was limited to two terms as President by the Russian constitution, but remains extremely popular with voters.
