Supermodel Heidi Mount's husband accused of raping woman at London Fashion Week

The husband of a model has been arrested over allegations he raped a woman during London Fashion Week.

Shawn Mount, 30, who ismarried to Chanel model Heidi Mount, 23, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a five-star London hotel.

The top New York hairstylist is alleged to have carried out the attack after he and his 24-year-old accuser, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attended a party together.

Mount's wife was on an assignment in Milan when the alleged incident happened.

Mount was arrested and interviewed at a central London police station. Pending further inquiries, he was bailed until November 10.

Scenes of crime experts and detectives spent days examining the room where the attack is alleged to have happened. It is believed linen and other items were taken away for analysis.

Meanwhile, the alleged victim has been interviewed by specialist sex crimes detectives from the Sapphire unit.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: 'We received a complaint of a serious sexual assault at 1.30am on September 20 at a central London hotel.

'The victim was referred to a victim support centre.

'A 30-year-old man was arrested on September 21 on suspicion of rape and bailed to return to a London police station in November. He has not been charged and we are still investigating.

For years, Heidi Mount, originally from Salt Lake City, has quietly been climbing her way to fame.

Her career kicked off in 2003, after catwalking for some of the biggest names in Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear including Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Viktor & Rolf and Christian Dior.

After taking a break from modelling, during which she got married and gave birth to her first child, she made a stunning return and is seen on the catwalks of all the couture shows.

In 2008, the American beauty became the face of Armarni Jeans, Bally and Prada.

But it was later that same year, when the model became the face of Chanel, superseding Claudia Schiffer, that she shot to true international stardom.

Described as 'elegant and charismatic', Heidi Mount was born Heidi Whitworth in Salt Lake City in 1987 in 1987. She was discovered at age 12 at a concert with her mother and her sister.
