Burglary victim remotely controls his stolen laptop to photograph thief - and then hands image to police who arrest him
A designer who had his laptop stolen helped police by using a spy camera programme to take pictures and catch the thief red-handed.
Joshua Kaufman thought he had lost his Apple MacBook when a thief broke into his apartment and stole the computer in March.
And with police giving his burglary report a low priority, he was resigned to never recovering the expensive laptop until he remembered the software he had installed on his MacBook.
Using 'Hidden' software, he remotely took pictures of the thief using his stolen computer - before handing the evidence to police to make an arrest.
Mr Kaufman captured the thief in a variety of bizarre locations - including using the stolen MacBook in bed, and in his car.
'Hidden' also provided him with location information, which police in Oakland, California, used to identify the thief as a taxi driver.

Are U.S. government microwave mind-control tests causing TV presenters' brains to melt down?
A bizarre spate of television presenters dissolving into on-air gibberish has sparked claims that the U.S. military could be to blame.
In four high-profile cases, the latest involving fast-talking Judge Judy, the presenters have started off speaking properly but have then descended into undecipherable nonsense - looking confused and unstable.
The frequency of the 'attacks' - and the fact that recorded examples of the mental meltdowns have been popular on websites - has led to conspiracy theorists pointing the finger at shadowy government experiments.

The owner of a suburban Philadelphia pizza shop has been arraigned on charges he schemed to plant live mice in competing pizza parlours in hope of putting them out of business.

The marathon kicked off at 6am yesterday (2300 GMT), with each couple given a space of one square metre in which they had to spend the time kissing, without leaving except for bathroom breaks.

Don't be so rough with the kids!' Lioness gives male a real earful after playfight with cubs
He's supposed to be the king of the jungle, but these pictures clearly show who's in charge.
The male lion cowers his head as he is given an earful by a lioness after a playfight went too far.
The father had pinned his daughter Lusaka to the ground in mock anger after the playful cub had repeatedly nipped his tail.
But the pair's fun came to a dramatic halt after the mother arrived and bared her teeth in fury at the male.
The remarkable images were recorded by amateur photographer Jennifer Lockridge, who took them at the National Zoo in Washington DC.

Lee Harvey Oswald’s coffin auctioned for RM272,000
Lee Harvey Oswald’s coffin, exhumed to clear a conspiracy theory
An anonymous buyer has paid more than US$87,000 (RM272,100) to buy the wood coffin that held Lee Harvey Oswald’s body for 20 years, an auction house said yesterday.
The winning bid of US$87,469 (RM273,600), which included a 20 per cent commission, exceeded the target price of US$60,000 set for the simple pine coffin that held the alleged presidential assassin’s remains until 1981.
Oswald was arrested less than an hour after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. He was shot and killed two days later, while in police custody, by nightclub owner Jack Ruby.
“‘This was a one-of-a-kind item,”‘ said Sam Heller, spokesman for auction house Nate D. Sanders in Santa Monica, California. “This was the first coffin that this auction house has ever auctioned and it was quite a unique item.”
Bidding began on the coffin when it was posted online two weeks ago.
Auction house manager Laura Yntema declined to identify the buyer except to say that he was a “private individual” who was apparently bidding for himself.
The coffin was unearthed in October 1981 after a legal dispute between Oswald’s widow, Marina, and his brother, Robert.
Marina successfully sought an exhumation to test a conspiracy theory that a look-alike Russian agent had been buried in her husband’s place, according to the auction house.
A medical exam showed the badly decomposed body was indeed Oswald’s, and he was returned to Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas, in a new casket.
The original coffin, which had suffered extensive water damage, was sold by Baumgardner Funeral Home, the local undertaker that handled the reinterment.

ET phone Mazlan, says UN
The United Nations is set to appoint Malaysian astrophysicist Datuk Dr Mazlan Othman to act as Earth’’s first contact for any aliens that may come visiting.
Mazlan, the head of the UN’s little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), is to describe her potential new role next week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society’s Kavli conference centre in Buckinghamshire, according to the www.news.com.au website.
It reported that she is scheduled to tell delegates that the recent discovery of hundreds of planets around other stars has made thedetection of extraterrestrial life more likely than ever before — and that means the UN must be ready to coordinate humanity’s response to any “first contact”.
