Las Vegas hotel guests left with severe burns from 'death ray' caused by building's design

Guests at a new hotel in Las Vegas have complained of receiving severe burns from a 'death ray' of sunlight caused by the unique design of the building.

Due to the concave shape of the Vdara hotel, the strong Nevada sun reflects off its all-glass front and directly onto sections of the swimming pool area below.

The result has left some guests with burns from the powerful rays and even plastic bags have been recorded as melting in the heat.
Chicago attorney Bill Pintas felt the power of the dangerous ray first hand last week.

'It felt like I had a chemical burn. I couldn't imagine why my head was burning,' he said.

'Within 30 seconds, the back of my legs were burning. My first though was, 'Jesus, they destroyed the ozone layer!'

Woman whose face was shot off to get new magnetic prosthetic ... so she can raise her son without wearing a mask

Recovery: Left, a computer graphic shows how Chrissy's face will look after the surgery. Right, an X-ray of Chrissy's skull shows the missing eye socket and nasal cavity - as well as shotgun pellets that remain embedded in her head

An American woman is set to have a total mid-face reconstruction after losing her eyes and nose in a horrific shooting accident.

Chrissy Steltz, 27, was just 16 when her friend accidentally blasted a shotgun in her face at point blank range.

Eleven years later, doctors are set to reconstruct her face with a silicone mask with a nose and glass eyes, magnetically attached to dental implants drilled into her remaining bones. The never-before-attempted surgery will, she hopes, allow her to raise her young son without wearing a mask.

Because she has no eye sockets or sinus cavity, doctors are unable to perform a face transplant.

Instead they are to mask her injuries with artificial eyes and a nose of silicone.

The mask will be held in place by magnets attached to eight implants embedded in the remaining bones of her face.

The $20,000 (£13,000) three-hour surgery is not covered by health insurance as it is considered cosmetic - so doctors have donated their time and skill.

And if all goes well, by this summer, Chrissy will once again have a face.

Back home: The duchess was stuck in Scotland for almost a week after the volcanic ash chaos, but travelled down to London on the Royal Train on Tuesday

It's only a fortnight since she broke her left leg in a hill-walking accident.

But things have got worse for the Duchess of Cornwall who has now strained a tendon in her right shoulder.

The second injury means Camilla is struggling to use her crutches and has taken to a wheelchair.

Yesterday she made light of her plight, explaining: 'I've got no leg and an arm on one side and no arm and a leg on the other.'

On her first official engagement since the fracture, the 62-year-old duchess told how she had received a letter asking about her health from a soldier who had a double amputation because of injuries he received in Afghanistan.

Although doctors expect the duchess to make a full recovery, the accident at Birkhall has raised concerns that she may have developed osteoporosis.

Daddy's girl: Lakshmi and her dad Shambu at their home this month. Lakshmi's parents are still fearful for her future, despite the success of the operation

She was born with a unique body - eight limbs and two torsos fused at the hips.

Now Lakshmi Tatma, the Indian toddler whose plight touched the world, has grown up and started school.

Two years after a ground-breaking operation to separate her from a parasitic twin, Lakshmi is a lively and bubbly four-year-old.

She loves playing cricket with her older brother, has a tendency to boss around her newfound friends and remains firmly a daddy's girl.

'When I think of the way she was, never in a million years would Lakshmi have been able to go to school or have the life she does today,' said her mother Poonam, 26.

'All the things she's capable of now were impossible two years ago.

'I often try to think what she might be like today if she hadn't had the operation - she couldn't even sit up before and now she runs around like other children.'

Born in a dusty farming village in India's poorest state, Lakshmi was revered as a deity and worshipped from birth.

Villagers, who believed she was the reincarnation of the Hindu goddess of wealth and fertility, would seek her blessing daily and leave gifts at her bedside.

But Lakshmi's resemblance to her mythological namesake came at a terrible price. She could not walk, stand, or even sit.

The little girl was joined to a headless parasitic twin that had stopped developing in her mother's womb. Doctors were convinced she could not have survived into adulthood.

Now fully recovered from the 27-hour operation to save her, Lakshmi is almost unrecognisable from her former self.

Beneath the surface, however, lurk a series of medical problems that threaten her future and will require years of surgery.

Six months after the complex operation to remove Lakshmi's parasitic twin, doctors discovered she had developed scoliosis, or a curvature of the spine.

Without a complex operation to correct her spine doctors have warned her back will be forced into increasingly severe deformities as she grows, possibly leaving her disabled.

Separately, Lakshmi requires an operation to 'detether' her spine after it was discovered she was born with abnormal tissue connecting the spinal cord to her nervous system.

In a further operation orthopaedic surgeons must perform a procedure to 'close her hips', which are set too far apart and result in an unusual 'gaited' walk.
Finally, plastic surgeons will need to find a way to create buttocks for Lakshmi, which did not form in the womb because of the unique way she was connected to her parasitic twin. In the same operation surgeons will have to fix related problems with her bladder and intestines.

'Lakshmi has come such a long, long way but we're very scared for the future,' said her mother Poonam.

'At one time we never imagined she would look so healthy, so we are very grateful for all the help we've had.

'But we can't bear the thought that all this help could be undone if we can't find a way to get the extra operations she needs.

'The charity that looks after her cares for 500 other children as well. It does not have the funds to pay for these operations and we have no money either.

'The hospital that operated on her before has promised to help but they cannot correct her spine because it is such a specialised operation.

'All we want is for her to be a normal child. She has had her operation but even now she can't walk or move normally. Her feet don't come together properly and when she walks it hurts.'

Despite the threat to her future, Lakshmi's life today is a world away from the circumstances of her birth.
Born to impoverished parents in the frequently lawless state of Bihar, in India's volatile northeast, Lakshmi faced an uncertain future until a wealthy doctor heard of her plight and offered to operate on her for free.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sharan Patil, owner of the Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore 2,000 miles south, travelled to Lakshmi's remote village in 2007 to meet the child and offer her parents the chance of a lifetime.

After more than a month planning the separation, Dr Patil's team attempted the first operation of its kind in the world.

Hundreds of journalists camped outside the hospital throughout the 27-hour surgery.

Lakshmi's fame, having spread from her tiny village around the world, prompted Sucheta Kriplani Shiksha Niketan (SKSN), a charitable school looking after disabled children in the desert state of Rajasthan, to offer her parents a place to live and the chance of an education for Lakshmi and her brother Mithilesh.

Dr Bhairoon Singh Bhati, the secretary of SKSN, said: 'Lakshmi is a special case for us. She's a very challenging case because you can never tell from her medical history when she might next fall ill.

'Her scoliosis is an example of the problems Lakshmi faces because we had no way of knowing she would develop a curvature of the spine.

'Similarly, despite all the problems she still faces we have no way of knowing what may crop up in the future.

'The biggest difficulty caring for Lakshmi is that she's a unique case - there's never been a child like her before so we have nothing to refer back to.'

Under Dr Bhati's guidance Lakshmi has started school, joining her elder brother as the only members of their family to ever receive an education.

Her father Shambu, 28, said: 'I believe with all my heart that Lakshmi is indeed a goddess. The operation removed her extra legs so that she can lead a normal life but she is not a normal child.

'She's special, I think anything is possible for her. I'd like her to be educated so she can become a teacher. Then she can pass on what she knows to other children.'

Five people were seriously injured when a lorry carry railway track smashed into a double decker bus today and overturning it in Clapham Junction, south London.Firefighters had to cut passengers free and eyewitnesses reported hearing people screaming

The overturned bus lies in the road as emergency services work at the scene
Firefighters had to free passengers trapped on a double-decker bus which overturned in the morning rush-hour today after a collision with a lorry.

The driver of the C3 bus was one of five people seriously hurt after the incident at around 8.30am in Clapham Junction, south London.

Police said the male driver of the lorry was arrested and is in custody at a south London police station.

The lorry was carrying railway track, which apparently smashed through the windows of the bus upon impact.

Three of the passengers were cut free by firefighters from Battersea and Wandsworth.

Police said that as well as the four passengers and the driver who had been seriously injured, a further 13 needed hospital treatment for minor injuries out of the 30 or so passengers on the bus.

Among the seriously injured was a 45-year old man, a-27-year-old woman and a third victim, aged 30, who were rushed to hospital after the crash.

Police closed off the scene in Plough Road following the smash at the junction with St John's Hill, which happened just yards from a primary school. No children were believed to be on board.

Eutan Jones, who manages a Caribbean cafe nearby, said: 'Everyone was crying out and shouting.

'They were cutting people out from the top of the bus, they cut the front of the bus off.

'I saw six or seven people taken away by ambulances. There was a lady who wasn't moving - I heard paramedics say she had hurt her spine. She looked smashed up a bit.

'The driver looked dead because he was just lying there not moving. They took the lorry driver away, but I don't think he was injured.

'I didn't see any children, but there must have been because it was an early bus and they would have been going to school.

'It was a railway lorry coming out of the rail depot. I think it hit the bus. There used to be a lot of accidents up here, but it is not too bad now.'

Barry Douglas, a chef, said: 'I heard a noise, it was a big bang and then I saw people running around making phone calls.

'As I came out people looked shocked and were saying 'I can't believe it'. I saw people trying to get off the bus, but others just froze.

A local 45-year-old mother-of-two, who declined to give her name, said: 'I heard the ambulances going by and went down the road to see what had happened.

'I saw a lady on a stretcher being put into an ambulance and I was crying because I don't like to see things like that. I've never seen anything like this before.'
The bus was taken away a few hours after the crash. Some of its upper windows were smashed and it seemed to be gouged on the side.

The lorry was still there at that time and some streets remained cordoned off.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: 'The air ambulance and London Ambulance Service attended.

'Four passengers and the bus driver were taken to hospital by land ambulance suffering serious injuries. A further 13 people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

'Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton are investigating.

'The male driver of the lorry has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody at a south London police station.

'The scene is likely to remain cordoned off for some time. We advise motorists to avoid the area and take alternative routes.'

The C3, run by the Abellio company, operates between Earl's Court and Clapham Junction.

Transport for London said there would be a full investigation into the incident.

Barbarlic women kidnap pregnant women and prison her for 5 days and tried to cut out her unborn baby.

Gruesome injuries: Veronica Deramous is accused of kidnapping a woman she met at a homeless shelter before trying to cut out her victims unborn baby

A pregnant woman who was held at an apartment in a suburb of Washington in the US for five days escaped after her captor tried to cut the unborn baby from her womb, police said.

The victim, who was homeless, was expected to recover and her daughter was delivered by emergency Caesarean section, police added.

Veronica Deramous, 40, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, false imprisonment and other related charges, said Officer Michelle Reedy, a spokeswoman for Prince George's County police.

Authorities said Deramous befriended the woman at a homeless shelter and persuaded her to come to her apartment on December 1 with a promise of baby clothes.

Officer Reedy said Deramous attacked and tied up the woman. Days later, the woman escaped after Deramous tried to cut the unborn baby from her body.

"She bound the victim's hands and proceeded to try to cut the victim's abdomen to try to get the baby out," she said.

Police said Deramous had told relatives and her boyfriend that she was pregnant even though she was not.

At some point, Deramous fell asleep and the woman managed to free herself and flee the apartment, the officer said. Police received a call on Sunday and found the woman bleeding from cuts.

Authorities received a tip that Deramous was in Virginia's Arlington County, where she was arrested. She is waiting to be transported to Maryland to face the charges.

The baby girl was named Miracle Sky.

A pregnant woman locked up for five days by a woman she met at a homeless shelter escaped after her captor tried to cut the unborn baby from her womb.

The victim was expected to recover after her daughter, who she named Miracle, was delivered by emergency Cesarean section, police in Virginia, in the US, said.

Veronica Deramous, 40, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, false imprisonment and other related charges.

Authorities said Deramous befriended Teka Adams at a homeless shelter in Maryland and persuaded her to come to her apartment on December 1 with a promise of baby clothes.

Once there, Deramous attacked and bound the 29-year-old, who was in her third trimester.

'She bound the victim's hands and proceeded to try to cut the victim's abdomen to try to get the baby out,' police said. They say Deramous had told relatives and her boyfriend that she was pregnant even though she was not.

In the apartment where the alleged attack occurred, officers found bloody towels and a bowl with water and washcloths on a bedroom floor. They also found a box cutter and razor blades, which they believe Deramous used to cut Adams.

According to the police report, Deramous had her 17-year-old son hold Adams' hands behind her back as she bound her with duct tape and then held her in a bedroom. Her son has not been charged.

A police report quotes Deramous as telling Adams: 'You're strong, you can handle what I'm going to do to you.' She then turned up the volume of the TV in the bedroom, gagged Adams and began to cut her abdomen open. Adams moaned in pain and Deramous stopped, police said.

While Deramous slept early on Sunday, December 6, Adams managed to free herself and flee the apartment. A neighbour called police, who found her bleeding in the apartment complex parking lot.

Deramous and her son fled, before a tip-off led police to neighbouring Virginia, where they were arrested.

A nun who answered the phone at the Queen of Peace, Missionaries of Charity shelter for pregnant women in southeast Washington said the victim had stayed there for at least one month and left the shelter last week, but did not know Deramous.

Adams has named her baby girl Miracle Sky. The county Department of Social Services said it was accepting donations on behalf of the family, including clothing and money, after receiving several calls on Tuesday from those wanting to help.

Mr Berlusconi was signing autographs when he was attacked with a gargoyled statue.

News reports say Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi spent an untroubled night at the hospital after being hit in the face with a statuette hurled by a man at a rally in Milan.

The ANSA news agency said Berlusconi asked to see newspapers upon waking up Monday at the San Raffaele hospital. The hospital's spokesman could not be reached for comment.

The hospital is expected to issue a medical update at midday.

Berlusconi was hit Sunday as he was signing autographs at the rally. The 73-year-old leader was rushed to hospital with blood under his nose, on his mouth and under one eye. He suffered a fractured nose, two broken teeth and a lip injury, according to hospital spokesman Paolo Klun.

The attacker has been arrested.

With a split lip, a broken nose and his face covered in blood, this was Silvio Berlusconi after he was punched to the ground by an attacker yesterday.

The 73-year-old Italian prime minister also lost two teeth in the assault as he signed autographs at the end of a stormy political rally in Milan.

His personal doctor, Alberto Zangrillo, said the premier would be kept in hospital for observation for up to 48 hours, adding his injuries would take at least 15 days to heal.

Berlusconi, a popular but divisive figure, said 'I'm fine, I'm fine' as he arrived at the hospital, where he spent an untroubled night.

He reportedly asked to see newspapers upon waking up, no doubt wanting to read coverage of the assault on the front pages.

Berlusconi was attacked when a man stepped from the crowd, dodging bodyguards, before smashing the politician in the face - apparently while clutching a model of the city's Duomo cathedral in his clenched fist.

The prime minister told an Italian TV presenter visiting him in hospital that he considered it ‘miraculous’ not to have lost an eye in the attack.

‘This is truly a bad day for Italy, and it's the duty of all the political forces to ensure that Italy does not go back to the years of violence,’ Gianfranco Fini, Berlusconi's top conservative ally, said.

The incident triggered an outpouring of solidarity for Berlusconi from allies and critics, just as the prime minister seeks to regain political momentum after a bruising year battling mounting legal troubles and sex scandals.

Allies blamed the assault on an atmosphere of hatred swirling around the billionaire businessman.

‘What they've done to Berlusconi is an act of terrorism,’ Umberto Bossi, head of the far-right Northern League and a close Berlusconi ally, said.

‘An oppressive climate has been felt for some time and what's happened today is a worrying sign.’

The attacker, named last night as Massimo Tartaglia, was arrested by police and taken away.
Just hours after the attack, Facebook groups had sprung up hailing or attacking Tartaglia, including one fan site with more than 32,000 fans that labelled him a man with "lots of courage".

TV showed a stunned Mr Berlusconi with blood around his mouth as he was lifted to his feet by aides.

He was bundled into his official car but immediately got out, apparently in an effort to show he was not badly injured. After looking out into the crowd, the aides pulled him back into the vehicle.

As police officers swamped the rally, Mr Berlusconi was driven to a nearby hospital where he was given a CAT scan.

Doctors said that as he was being treated on a stretcher, he had told them: 'I'm fine, I'm fine, don't worry about me.'

It was reported that the attacker was wielding a miniature statue of Milan's Duomo, the city's gargoyled cathedral and symbol.

There was no immediate suggestion of a motive for the attack. Police sources said that 42-year-old Tartaglia, from Milan, was not known as a political activist and had no criminal convictions apart from minor driving offences.

They added, however, that he had been 'receiving medical attention for mental problems' for ten years.

Before the attack, Mr Berlusconi had delivered a fiery speech to supporters of his People of Freedom party in the square in front of the cathedral. Scores of opponents had also gathered to try to drown out his speech.

Defence minister Ignazio La Russa who witnessed the attack said: 'I saw blood coming from the premier's nose and mouth. He was then pushed into the car by his bodyguards and driven away.

'He was actually trying to step on the edge of the door so that he could stand and wave to the crowds but his bodyguards would not let him do it, they pushed him inside.

'The attacker was held immediately by the police and it's a good job he was because he risked being lynched by the crowd. There would have been just pieces of him left.'

The attack came after a speech that had been billed as politically significant but revealed no big policy shift.

Berlusconi launched a familiar tirade against the left and rattled off a list of government achievements, in a characteristically feisty performance aimed at shoring up his standing and ratings.

It is the second time that Mr Berlusconi has been attacked in public. In 2004 he was hit over the head with a camera tripod while strolling in Rome.

Last night's incident came despite reports in November security had been tightened-around him following fears that he was being targeted by Left-wing terrorists.

Mr Berlusconi has been at the centre of controversy for much of the year. In April it emerged that he had attended the 18th birthday party of a lingerie model, giving her a £5,400 gold and diamond necklace.

It prompted his long-suffering wife Veronica Lario, 53, to announce she was divorcing him because she could no longer be with a man who ' associated with minors and was ill'.

In June it emerged that escort girls had been among women invited to parties at his official residences. One claimed to have slept with him.

He has also been at the centre of a political storm after an immunity law his government introduced was overturned, meaning he could be put on trail for corruption.

In recent weeks there have been claims he was in the Mafia, allegations he has dismissed as lies.

An opinion poll published on Saturday indicated his popularity had fallen four percentage points to just over 50 percent as Italians fretted that his legal entanglements could distract him from government duties.

Taming the beast: Christian Walliser, with the tigers in an undated file photo. The tiger tamer is fighting for his life after being mauled by tigers during a dinner show on Tuesday nightAn animal tamer is in a critical condition after being mauled by three tigers during a bizarre supper circus club show in Germany.

Christian Walliser, 28, was attacked by the big cats as 170 horrified diners at at Pagel’s Dinner Circus looked on.

Three of the five tigers mauled the trainer when he lost his footing.

Within seconds the animals had shredded Mr Walliser's left hand and inflicted serious injuries to his head and upper body.
Circus employees rushed to restrain the tigers using fire extinguishers and Mr Walliser was dragged to safety.

He was airlifted to hospital where he is now fighting for his life.

About 20 spectators were treated for shock at the Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg.

'He didn't stand a chance,' said one of the guests. 'They were on him in an instant.'

Circus chief Stefan Pagels insisted the tigers attacked Mr Walliser in a 'playful' manner and said they would not be destroyed.

He added: 'First of all, the tigers did nothing wrong. Secondly, we never punish our animals, we only ever reward them.

'Punishing them would serve no purpose and there is no reason to put them to sleep.

'What you sometimes hear about animals getting a taste for human blood is complete and utter rubbish. As soon as Mr Walliser is back, and we hope that will be soon, he will look after the animals again.

'There is a one-in-a-million chance that something will go wrong and it happened. We have a saying in the circus business that says "The show must go on." We are sure that Mr. Walliser wants us to go on.'

Terrifying moment crowd is engulfed by 20ft fireball at family festival after 'yob threw aerosol can into flames'

Risk: An Ottery resident carries a barrel without incident during the annual event that dates back to 1605

Blast: Flames leap up from the burning barrel in front of hundreds of shocked spectators, injuring at least 12

Inferno: Flames erupt at the historic Tar Barrel event in Ottery St Mary, Devon

This is the horrific moment a crowd of people were engulfed by an explosion at a traditional flaming barrel-carrying festival.

A 20ft fireball blasted across a group of spectators at the family event, injuring at least a dozen, after a yob allegedly threw an aerosol can into the burning tar.

One man suffered serious burns and required plastic surgery after his face was set alight during the centuries-old Bonfire Night event at Ottery St Mary in Devon.

Police are now investigating claims of sabotage after witnesses said they saw a boy throw a can into a flaming tar-filled wooden barrel being carried on a man’s shoulders.

The incident could force the festival, which is said to have started after the foiling of the gunpowder plot of 1605, could now be cancelled in future years.

Victim Ian Chown, who needed specialist treatment after suffering first- and second-degree burns, said: ‘I was stood about three or four rows away when it exploded.

I don’t know what hit my face but it was burning me - I managed to rip it off.’

Mr Chown, who lives in the town, was rushed 80miles from a hospital in Exeter to the specialist burns unit at Bristol Frenchay Hospital after the incident on Thursday.

He was told by doctors to rest for two weeks and keeps his injuries covered in Vaseline before he is re-assessed.

‘I’m just trying to come to terms with what happened,’ he said. ‘I’m in a lot of pain from the burns.’

Another victim, Jon Watling, from Taunton, Somerset, who was knocked to the ground by the blast, burnt his left hand after covering his face.

He said: ‘I got up to see everyone on fire - my coat was covered in burning tar.

‘People kept coming in to the casualty tent. There were 15 to 20 in there at a time.

‘One guy next to me was told he would need to have plastic surgery on his face.’

Organiser Graham Rowland said he was ‘appalled’ by the ‘idiotic’ act and called for whoever was responsible to hand themselves in to police.

He said: ‘Whoever did this was an irresponsible idiot. We put so many safety procedures in place but how can you control something like that?

‘I understand around 12 people needed hospital treatment for burns to their faces and hands and we need to find the culprit quickly.’

Local photographer Alex Christaki was able to catch this incredible picture of the fireball as it engulfed a crowd.

Footage of the blast has been posted on YouTube and residents in Ottery St Mary have branded the culprit ‘mindless’.

One man said: ‘This event has now run its course. It’s now time for this very dangerous event to be placed into the history books and stopped forever.

‘Councillors will be held liable and taken to court for corporate manslaughter when a member of the public is killed - the buck always lies with someone.

‘It flies in the face of all health and safety laws. We should stop the tar barrel event forever.’

However, despite his injuries, Mr Chant said he hopes the even will continue.

‘I’m a local and just hope this doesn’t jeopardise the future of this event,’ he explained.

‘All I want is for who ever did this to come forward apologise and explain why they thought this was a good idea.’

Ottery is the only town in the country to carry full-size lit tar barrels through the streets.

The West Country has a history of torchlight processions and burning barrels which are rolled in the streets on November 5 each year.

But at some point it the residents of Ottery decided that rolling was too tame and that carrying barrels on your shoulders was far more appealing.

Seventeen are carried during the event, which starts in the afternoon, and range in size from small for boys, medium for the women and youths, and big for the men.

Traditionally, the barrels are set alight at pubs and hotels around the town until the final barrel is carried in the square around midnight.

The barrels are selected over a 12 month period and their internal surface is coated with coal tar.

The ‘barrel rollers’ come from generations of families who have lived in the town.

A group set up on Facebook called ‘Tar Barrel aerosol thrower to be brought to justice’ now has 1,758 members.

Devon and Cornwall Police said today they were studying footage of the blast.

A spokesman said: ‘The area was obviously very busy with spectators throughout the night and police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information.’

Plane makes emergency landing on Highway 101, hits three cars

A plane makes an emergency landing on Highway 101, hits three cars and amazingly nobody was hurt.

It happened at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday on the southbound side of Highway 101 near Turnpike and Patterson Roads in Santa Barbara.

Fire officials say there were two people in the Piper Comanche plane and five people in the cars.

One person from one of the vehicles was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was later released.

The California Highway Patrol says the plane was traveling from Temecula to the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport when it lost power.

Officers closed one lane of the highway but things were back up and running by noon.

The Piper Comache 260 carrying a married couple landed on the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 just outside Santa Barbara and a few miles from the airport,

The plane's engine quit, and as the pilot descended, he lost control of the plane and landed in the southbound lane facing oncoming traffic. The plane struck two vehicles while landing, then spun and hit another one with its tail.

One vehicle passenger was treated for minor injuries, he said. No other injuries were reported.

The landing happened at 10:36 a.m. (1:36 p.m. ET) and held up traffic for less than two hours,

The pilot told authorities that he attempted to switch fuel lines during the flight, but was unable to restore power to the plane. He said he alerted a tower at the airport that a landing on the highway was imminent, Richardson said
