1971: 'GOING BACK TO INDIANA' SPECIAL



A costumed Bill Cosby played a faux reporter during the Jackson 5's television special to introduce their performance of "I Want You Back."

1974: THE MERV GRIFFIN SHOW

The brothers – Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael – performed their hit song "Dancing Machine," which also can take credit for popularizing the Robot dance move as part of their routine – one of Michael's earliest signature moves.

1973: THE SONNY AND CHER COMEDY HOUR

Jackson's first No. 1 song as a solo artist was not only a hit record, but earned the young singer a Golden Globe nomination and an Oscar nomination for Best Song for "Ben," from the 1972 movie of the same name about a boy who befriends a rat.

1979: 'DESTINY' TOUR

While touring with his brothers for The Jacksons' "Destiny" tour, the singer also performed songs from his smash solo album Off the Wall, including the album's eponymous hit single.

1984: MOTOWN 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Millions were transfixed as Michael Jackson took the stage at the record label's anniversary celebration to debut his most famous – and patented! – dance move, the Moonwalk.

1988: GRAMMY AWARDS

The King of Pop wowed the star-studded crowd at the Grammy Awards, starting out with a slowed-down version of "The Way You Make Me Feel" and climaxing with "Man in the Mirror" – with a full gospel choir accompanying him.

1992: 'DANGEROUS' TOUR

Recreating his stylish, retro video look for "Smooth Criminal," the singer glided across the stage in a suit and fedora while performing his smash 1987 hit during his 1992 concert tour.

1993: SUPERBOWL XXVII HALFTIME SHOW

135 million Americans tuned in to watch the King of Pop perform at the halftime show. They were treated to a medley that included "Jam", "Billie Jean", "Black or White" and "Heal the World."

1995: MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS

The star took the VMAs audience by surprise when Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash stormed the stage during the singer's medley of hits. The rocker was an ongoing Jackson collaborator since the early '90s.

1997: 'HISTORY' TOUR

Jackson filmed a space-age video for "Scream," his duet with sister Janet, but performed it solo while touring in 1997.

2009: CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT

On March 5, the pop star took to the stage of O2 Arena in London to announce a series of comeback concerts, for which he was rehearsing until his untimely demise. More than an astonishing 750,000 seats were sold to fans hoping to see him in action for what he called his career "curtain call."
