Cancer-stricken Dennis Hopper files for divorce from his deathbed

Screen legend Dennis Hopper, who is reportedly on his deathbed, has filed for divorce.

The 73-year-old Easy Rider star is battling prostate cancer and is said to be facing his final days surrounded by his family and friends.

He and Victoria Duffy, 41, his fifth wife, have been married for nearly 14 years and have a daughter, Galen, who turns seven in March.
In his court papers he lists the date of separation as last Tuesday and offers to pay spousal support.

He is requesting joint legal and physical custody of Galen.

A long-time friend of the couple told The Huffington Post: 'It's truly a tragedy, and sadly it's all about the money and who inherits what.

'This is about getting Victoria out of the will, nothing more, nothing less.'
Hopper announced last October that he had cancer, which is believed to have been diagnosed in 2002.

His marriage to Duffy lasted longer than any of his others, which include an eight-day marriage to Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas in 1970.

As well as Galen he has three adult children, Marin, Henry and Ruthanna.

He has been estranged from Ruthanna for some time but Marin, her daughter and Henry live at his Venice, California, compound.

Hopper, nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the classic 1969 film Easy Rider, and for acting in Hoosiers, released in 1986, has most recently been seen in the television version of Crash.
